Learn how to apply a dark Vignette to your photos over at SDD (http://scrappity-doo-dah.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6614). This is a great way to draw the eye to your subject in your photos. It can be used for people, places or things, it doesnt necessarily have to apply to a portrait.
